Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The American Academy Limassol opened in 1986 at 24 Despinas Pattichi Street with 50 pupils, serving both primary and secondary. By 1990 the primary school moved to 7 Lefkas Street to accommodate growth. In 2000 Nursery and Reception were added, boarding facilities were created for international students, and an Educational Learning Centre was established to support extra lessons and learners with difficulties such as dyslexia. In 2001 the school started a Greek private secondary school; between 2006-2008 an extra floor was added to the secondary school and a new Nursery opened in 2008. In 2010 a management agreement with the Tanafoua Group was signed for expansion into Saudi Arabia; in 2011 City and Guilds accredited the school as an online English Examination Centre; in 2013 negotiations began to offer first-year pathway courses in tertiary education.

Community

The school emphasizes teamwork as a daily practice on the field, in the classroom, and in house competitions, fostering spirit, unity, and belonging. Students lift each other up, celebrate each other's successes, and work together toward shared goals. The school engages the wider community with events such as University Fairs and Educational Fairs that connect families with higher education options. Open days provide information sessions and tours for prospective students and parents.
