Admissions

How to apply, waitlist information, and financial support

Admissions Process

All applications for Pre-IB, IB, and Boarding School are submitted electronically in OpenApply. OpenApply is the secure platform used for applications and communication. Grenaa Gymnasium runs three admission rounds for Pre-IB and IB: Round 1 deadline 1 December; Round 2 deadline 12 January; Round 3 deadline 28 February; later applications from 1 March onward may be admitted only if vacancies exist. Pre-IB requires applying in both optagelse.dk (select Pre-IB as FORRANG) and OpenApply; meet STX admission requirements; high level English; ability to read complex English; bring your own laptop; you will need the calculator required for IB. IB Diploma requires a direct OpenApply application; completion of Pre-IB or first year of STX; GPA that meets STX requirements and an overall IB average above 4; high English proficiency and high proficiency in the other subjects you choose; demonstrate alignment with Grenaa Gymnasium's core values and the IB Mission Statement. Documents needed: latest report card; reference from current school; personal statement; copy of passport. Boarding School applicants must apply for a room at the Boarding School at the same time as applying for STX, HF, Pre-IB, or IB via OpenApply; Danish boarding applicants applying to STX/HF must select Boarding School as FORRANG on optagelse.dk. There is no tuition fee; boarding fees apply and reductions may be available for low income with properly documented income/tax information; a birth certificate may be required for minor siblings.

Waitlist

How the waiting list works: If an applicant is not admitted, they may be offered a place on the waiting list. The list is not prioritized; when a place becomes available, Grenaa Gymnasium looks for a suitable match in terms of age, gender, and subject choices. For round three, applicants not admitted may be added to the waiting list.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

There is no tuition fee. The boarding fee must be paid by the family, but reductions may be available for low income if income is properly documented by tax information from the authorities. A boarding-fee subsidy may be possible; details are provided in the boarding fee information.
