ISB opened in August 2013 with just over 60 students in Kindergarten and Primary. Today, ISB has more than 550 students aged 3-16 spread across Kindergarten, Primary and Middle School. More than 65 nationalities are represented at ISB. ISB's playful curriculum is built upon the International Baccalaureate framework, and ISB is an IB World School authorized for the Primary and Middle Years Programme.
ISB is an IB World School with students from many nationalities, and its vision is to cultivate lifelong learners who will shape the world. Voices of our community feature testimonials from parents and teachers about the learning environment. ISB has hosted the Playful School Conference for several years, inviting practitioners with playful mindsets from around the world. A school newsletter keeps families informed with upcoming events and school news.
ISB is governed by an independent School Board with input from the Parents' Kindergarten Committee and Student Council. The School Board has five members: two appointed by the LEGO Foundation, one by Danish Industry, and two parent representatives elected by the parents. Only parents with children in P1–M5 are eligible to be elected to the School Board, and the parent representatives are elected at the annual general meeting. The Kindergarten Parents' Committee consists of five members: three elected by Kindergarten parents, and two appointed by the School Board. The ISB governance also includes a Student Council, whose two student representatives from each class, P2 and above, vote on matters and meet with school leadership, plus access to bylaws, board codes of conduct, and inspection and IB evaluation reports.
