Academic and Intellectual

AC offers a complete learning journey from 12 months through Grade 12 with a continuous, caring, developmentally aligned experience. It delivers an International Baccalaureate–based curriculum, strongly aligned with an American learning model to foster deep understanding, critical thinking, and academic strength. English is the primary language of instruction with full English immersion from the start, while Spanish is taught across all grades to foster biliteracy and connect students with local culture. The school community is international, representing more than 30 nationalities, supporting global perspectives and belonging.

Arts and Creative

The Visual and Performing Arts program provides meaningful opportunities to express creativity through music, drama, and visual arts. The program nurtures expression, creativity, confidence, collaboration, and meaningful artistic exploration. Robotics and Design engage students in building, coding, and solving real‑world challenges through hands‑on design.

Cultural and Language

English-based instruction is the primary language of instruction, with bilingual programming from 12 months to four years and full English immersion starting in Pre‑K. Spanish is meaningfully integrated across Kindergarten through Grade 12 to foster biliteracy and connect students with local culture. The language program supports connection to the Ecuadorian community while preparing students for international study.

Social and Hobbies

Extended Learning offers a wide range of after‑school activities Monday to Thursday, with 6th–12th grade clubs during the school day. Athletics fosters a vibrant culture with JV and Varsity teams in volleyball, basketball, football, and swimming, alongside recreational opportunities through extended learning. Students explore enrichment opportunities and experiential learning as part of the daily program.

Community and Service

The AC community represents more than 30 nationalities, creating a truly international environment where students learn with diverse perspectives. Academia Cotopaxi American International School in Quito is a private, coeducational day school serving ages 1 through 18. The curriculum combines International Baccalaureate (PYP and DP) with an American high school program, offering three diplomas: United States High School Diploma, Ecuadorian High School Diploma, and the IB Diploma. The IB Diploma is open to all high school students, and AC was among the region's first IB World Schools.
