Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) is part of the Bachillerato Internacional at Colegio Británico Internacional. It connects students with realities beyond academics and supports development as a global citizen. Students undertake CAS activities such as adult literacy at Centro Educativo Sin Fronteras, support for a local Scout group, academic aid to under-resourced children via Fundación Entrega La Macarena, and equine therapy for rehabilitation through Fundación Ángeles. The school emphasizes a broad student life with a wide range of extracurricular opportunities that allow students to explore interests and develop leadership and collaboration. The Consejería Estudiantil DECE supports student well-being and social-emotional development and involves families to cultivate a caring, inclusive school climate.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The Consejería Estudiantil DECE provides a trusted space for prevention and support where students, families and teachers receive ongoing guidance. The department is led by Yasmina Orellana, a specialist in psychopedagogy, neuropsychology and educational psychology, enabling early detection of needs and coordinated support. It runs programs for coexistence and holistic health, involves families, and offers accompaniment to teachers. The team also focuses on preventing bullying and promoting an inclusive school climate as part of its IB-aligned mission.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school provides intensive English language instruction as a second language and French or Italian as a third language. English language teaching and multilingual education are emphasized as part of the IB program, with immersion in English and a trilingual linguistic system noted on the institution's pages.

Mental Wellbeing

The DECE is a space of trust, prevention and support where students, families and teachers receive ongoing guidance. Colegio Británico Internacional in Quito is a 100% IB school serving learners from age 3 to 18 and offering PYP, MYP and DP. The curriculum connects learning to real-world contexts to develop globally minded citizens. The IB learner profile emphasizes ten attributes: Principled, Open-minded, Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Reflective, Caring, Balanced, Communicators and Risk-takers.
