Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

PINNU is the school's Model United Nations program. It simulates how the United Nations operates through debates, negotiations, and proposals to address global issues, developing students' oratory and research skills. The program has a decade-long history as a high-level model, and the 2023-2024 edition PINNU X will feature seven committees formed by secondary students nationwide, including the Organization of American States, the Economic and Social Council, UN Women, the Security Council, the International Court of Justice, and the Human Rights Council. Participation takes place in two languages: Spanish and English. PINNU also aligns with the International Baccalaureate profile by developing leadership and collaborative skills.

Arts and Creative

The Theatre Club develops expressive and social skills through playful exercises that foster creativity and teamwork. It operates in two groups, for third through seventh grades and for Bachillerato, and culminates in the staging and premiere of a play each year. The club has been invited to intercollegiate arts festivals and the Bachillerato productions involve teachers, staff, and mothers, reflecting broad community participation. The Art Club opens to students from the third grade to explore visual arts, teaching techniques across drawing, printmaking, painting, sculpture and other media, with exhibitions and participation in interschool art contests.

Cultural and Language

The ONU Club offers a space to learn about world issues with a humanistic approach and to develop oratory, communication and research skills. Open to students from seventh grade, it covers the UN's internal functions and global conflicts, with debates and simulations in Spanish, English and French. The club participates in intercollegiate simulations, and hosts PINNU as a national model. PINNU uses two languages: Spanish and English.

Social and Hobbies

Sports foster physical and mental development, building psychomotor skills, teaching rules, teamwork and the value of personal effort, and promoting healthy life habits. In addition to daily practice, students may join extracurricular Sports Clubs. Our clubs include Athletics (from 2nd EGB onward), Rhythmic Gymnastics (2nd–7th EGB), Basketball, Volleyball and Football across multiple age groups. They participate in internal and inter-school festivals and tournaments, including COPAIN, Copa Amistad, Copa Delta and other events.

Community and Service

Environmental education campaigns run throughout the year, including activities during World Environment Day to promote practices for our shared home. The Code of Honor includes obligations such as field trips, trainings, service, and activities of the CAS program (Creativity, Activity and Service). Environmental campaigns and service initiatives are active components of the school's social responsibility efforts.

Leadership and Professional

PINNU includes formal leadership roles, including a Secretariat General and a Co‑Secretariat General. The Entrepreneurship Club provides leadership experiences through Junior Achievement, the Food Truck Challenge and UDLA's Negocios Inteligentes. Our JA teams have achieved notable results, including second place in 2020 and first place in 2021, with opportunities to engage in international forums. These activities develop teamwork, project management and professional communication skills.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Sports promote physical and mental development, psychomotor growth, social interaction, adherence to rules, teamwork and the commitment to personal effort. Beyond daily practice, students may participate in extracurricular Sports Clubs. The clubs include Athletics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Basketball, Volleyball and Football across multiple age groups, with participation in internal and inter-school festivals and tournaments.
