Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Los Pinos has more than 55 years of history in Quito. It accompanies girls and young women from early stages to help them discover and develop their talents so they flourish, live a healthy, happy, and full life, and generate a positive impact on others and the world. Over 55 years, more than 10,000 students have studied at Los Pinos. The school employs more than 60 teachers and has more than 230 recognitions. The mission is to educate integrally with families in Christian virtues, in an environment of freedom and responsibility, so students become secure, successful individuals committed to service and the common good. The vision is to be a school of academic quality recognized nationally and internationally, with a united educational community that forms leaders who participate consciously and actively as agents of social change.

Community

Los Pinos offers a holistic 360 education that integrates spiritual, ethical, and cognitive development with guidance rooted in Catholic values. The academic program is rigorous, trilingual, and competency-based, incorporating active methodologies, formative assessment, and tutor support. It is part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, preparing students for global impact through broad culture, critical thinking, and strong language skills. The campus spans more than 3 hectares with a coliseum, sports courts, laboratories, green areas, and an oratory. The school hosts clubs such as ONU, Theater, Film, Entrepreneurship, Artistic, and Sports, with activities and debates conducted in Spanish, English, and French.

Parent-Teacher Association

AMYPA is the Asociación de Madres y Padres de Alumnos. Its mission is to actively promote the integration and unity of all parents of the Colegio Los Pinos. It emphasizes fostering a sense of belonging and strengthening ties between families and students, and supports and develops fundraising initiatives for scholarships. AMYPA is composed of parents of students across different cycles. Three commissions have been established: a Coordinating Commissions (to set guidelines and plans for each academic year), an Annual Activities Commission (to define the main actions for each school period), and a Communications and Marketing Commission (to support the school's communications, marketing, and promotion plans). AMYPA aims to listen to and address parental concerns and collaborate with the school to meet needs when possible.
