Let the school know you're thinking of applying — they can share their prerequisites and help you through the process.
It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
The school offers a clear and simple admissions process. The admissions team guides applicants through every step to make registration quick and easy. Guided tours are available to learn about the facilities and how SEK Los Valles operates. There are limited places, and securing a place for the next course is encouraged. Grades offered include Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, and International Baccalaureate. Applicants indicate how they learned about SEK, with options such as Search Engines, Website, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Acquaintances at school, or Other.
SEK Los Valles awards full or partial scholarships for each academic year to students who meet the requirements and follow the established procedure, representing 5% of the total value of tuition and fees. Scholarship types include special scholarships for students (merits in sports, outstanding performance); scholarships for children of staff; scholarships guaranteeing schooling; third-sibling scholarships; and scholarships for children of Heroes of Cenepa. A scholarships committee (chaired by the Vice President of the SEK Institution) studies the documentation and forwards a resolution to the Director General, who awards the scholarship; the administration and rectorate monitor beneficiaries and report at the end of each academic year. Scholarships are awarded for one academic year and renewal follows the same process. They are personal and non-transferable and do not exempt the student or family from complying with school regulations; misbehavior or other issues can lead to cancellation. The scholarship may be canceled for non-payment of remaining amounts or delinquency beyond ten calendar days.
SEK Los Valles International School in Costa Rica serves students aged 2 to 18. The school offers all three International Baccalaureate programmes—PYP, MYP and DP—alongside a bespoke curriculum. Preschool follows the PYP with inquiry-based learning and English as the everyday language. Primary Education uses the PYP framework with integrated English and French and arts subjects, supported by the iPad project, robotics, and a MAC lab to develop digital literacy. Secondary Education follows the MYP with science, art and languages, and the upper grades offer the Diploma Programme (and the Unified Baccalaureate). The IB experience fosters inquiry, critical thinking, autonomy and an international mindset. Facilities include English from age 3, French as a third language, augmented/virtual reality elements, an iMac lab, and a 360º virtual tour. A Real Madrid Foundation partnership expands the sports program, including swimming. SEK Los Valles joined SEK in 2005 and remains part of a long international network.
