Preschool uses the Primary Years Programme (PYP) with English as the everyday language and includes art, music, swimming, and technology to support development. Primary Education uses the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), integrating English and French and arts subjects, with the iPad project, robotics, and the MAC lab. Secondary Education uses the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) with a broad curriculum including science, art, sports, and language arts; the upper grades offer the IB Diploma and the Unified Baccalaureate. SEK Los Valles offers all three IB programs—PYP, MYP, and DP—fostering inquiry, critical thinking, autonomy, and an international mindset.
Dance School (Salsa and Bachata) and Ballet are offered for different ages. The School Band teaches wind, percussion, and strings and performs at school events. Arts and Culture Center and Debate foster motivation, creativity, and values. Robotics provides hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Native Spanish; English at C1 level and French at B2; Cambridge and DELF certifications are offered. There are opportunities to participate in international programs in 17 countries. The school is part of the SEK-IES network with over 130 years of experience and presence in Europe, the USA, Latin America and South Africa.
Extracurricular activities include Tennis and Mini Bikers for younger children; Primary–Secondary students can join IDV Soccer, Ballet, Volleyball, Swimming, MMA, Padel, Horseback Riding, and Basketball. Dance (Salsa and Bachata), Arts and Culture Center, Debate, Robotics, and School Band are also offered. Activities run from age 2 through high school, providing broad opportunities for social development and teamwork.
The Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) is an active network that works alongside the school to improve the educational experience.
A Medical Department provides a doctor on site throughout the school day for primary care and first aid. A dining room with its own kitchen offers balanced menus tailored to each age. The Psychopedagogical Office organizes, directs, and supports student guidance and collaborates with families to prevent problems. The curriculum includes sports, including swimming, as part of a holistic wellbeing approach.
SEK Los Valles International School in Costa Rica serves students aged 2 to 18. The school offers all three International Baccalaureate programmes—PYP, MYP and DP—alongside a bespoke curriculum. Preschool follows the PYP with inquiry-based learning and English as the everyday language. Primary Education uses the PYP framework with integrated English and French and arts subjects, supported by the iPad project, robotics, and a MAC lab to develop digital literacy. Secondary Education follows the MYP with science, art and languages, and the upper grades offer the Diploma Programme (and the Unified Baccalaureate). The IB experience fosters inquiry, critical thinking, autonomy and an international mindset. Facilities include English from age 3, French as a third language, augmented/virtual reality elements, an iMac lab, and a 360º virtual tour. A Real Madrid Foundation partnership expands the sports program, including swimming. SEK Los Valles joined SEK in 2005 and remains part of a long international network.
