Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Construction of Collège Saint-Marc began after Sainte-Catherine School could not accommodate more than 1,000 students, creating the need for a new school. In November 1921, His Majesty King Fouad I received a delegation of Brothers regarding their desire to build a new school and promised his support. Several lands were proposed, including sites that would later host the Faculty of Medicine and the College. After selecting the Chatby site and pursuing approvals in 1924, the land on which Collège Saint-Marc would be built was registered on December 21, 1925. In June 1926, Collège Saint-Marc was constructed on a 35,726-square-metre plot, described as the most magnificent in the Middle East, with the cornerstone laid on May 16, 1926 in the presence of high officials and Frère Cyprien-Pierre, the College's Director. The project was carried out by the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, tying the College to the Lassalian tradition.

Community

Collège Saint-Marc maintains an active community life through a broad program of student movements and activities, including MEJ, Scouts, Coeurs-Vaillants, Conference, Choir, Amicale, Centre de Créativité, Centre Pédagogique, Astronomy, Theatre, and a Cultural Salon, together with a range of sports (Football, Basketball, Hockey, Natation/Swimming, Gymnastique). The campus organizes a Centre de Vie (Centre of Life) with division-level directives, rules, and regular Rencontres des Parents (Parents' Meetings) across the divisions: Nursery, Primary, Preparatory, and Secondary. The school also provides activity pages, news, and presentations that support student life and cultural events.

Parent-Teacher Association

Rencontres des Parents (Parents' Meetings) are held across divisions to engage families in school life. These meetings foster dialogue among parents, teachers, and division leadership. Rencontres des Parents appear within each division's Directives (Centre de Vie, Jardin d'enfants, Petit Primaire, Grand Primaire, Préparatoire, Secondaire), ensuring ongoing family involvement in the school community. Parents participate in planning and feedback processes through these regular meetings and related activities across the Lassalien network. The school uses these channels to coordinate expectations and events with families as part of its family engagement program.
