The school provides a future-oriented education and up-to-date knowledge. It challenges and supports students with student-centered teaching and educational methods.
Art, Concert & Creative Activities are offered. An annual exhibition and stage program showcase works and performances from art and profiling classes and music clubs. The program includes Youth Musiziert prize-winners and JuMu-open groups presenting excerpts from their current performances. Refreshments are provided by the Social Committee.
Intercultural collaboration is central to DEO Kairo, which operates as an intercultural and interreligious space for encounter and life. Learning and living are guided by shared values and norms. A project coordinator ensures that students and staff feel welcome and supported, promoting an inclusive environment that fosters cultural exchange. Orientation programs, peer mentoring, and interactive workshops strengthen intercultural understanding, and exchange programs broaden students' perspectives and integration into the global community.
Extracurricular clubs are offered across grade levels, meeting Monday to Thursday from 13:45 to 15:15. The offerings include sports, music and art as well as modern clubs such as entrepreneurship, baking and cooking, and science and informatics projects. Many clubs showcase their work at school events and competitions, including musicals, Jugend musiziert, robotics competitions and sports events. The Social Committee plans and runs social projects.
Since 1993, students and teachers volunteer in the Social Committee, which supports homes, schools, and the Müllviertel area. The committee organizes bread campaigns, the Klaus Heller Run, concerts, theatre, the Pyramidenlauf, Bake Sales, and the DEO Family Day to raise funds for those in need. These activities give students insight into the lives and needs of others.
Student leadership is organized through the Student Council (SMV). Elections are held and new SMV members are announced each school year; the SMV can be reached at smv@deokairo.de. The school also offers Studien- und Berufsberatung (study and career guidance) to help students plan for university study and vocational training, including internships and information events. These programs support leadership development, career readiness, and informed decisions about the future.
DEO Kairo prioritizes safety and well-being. TrauDich provides a confidential channel to report safety incidents; responses are guaranteed within three school days and handled by a designated team. The school also offers access to Schulpsychologie and Schulsozialarbeit to support social-emotional development, learning difficulties, crisis situations, and overall well-being. The counseling team works with students, parents and teachers to foster a safe, supportive learning environment.
