The school was established in 1982 as a private English school licensed by the Egyptian Ministry of Education. It evolved into El Alsson British International School after becoming an official Edexcel GCSE, AS and A-Levels centre in 2001. In 2006 the American Section was introduced, closing the National Ministry track, and the school became El Alsson British & American International School. In 2017 a new campus opened at NewGiza, spanning 14 feddans, with two schools—the British School and the American School—sharing the site.
Alumni reunions have been held at Haraneya and NewGiza campuses, including a 2022 gathering at NewGiza. The school emphasizes community service as part of its educational philosophy, with activities such as Charity Day. Parent involvement is fostered through a Parent Council relaunched in 2022 to enhance engagement across school life.

El Alsson NewGiza is a private international day school in Egypt offering British and American sections on one campus for students aged 3 to 18. The British section delivers IEYC and IPC alongside the UK National Curriculum for Foundation Stage 1 to Year 13. It is an Edexcel and Cambridge examination centre for GCSE, IGCSE, AS and A-Levels, and it underwent British Schools Overseas inspection in October 2021. The American section follows a US program aligned to core standards, including the Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards and the C3 Social Studies Standards; AP courses are available and a US High School Diploma opens doors to universities. Cognia accreditation covers the American programme, and since 2023 the school offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The NewGiza campus, opened in 2017, spans 14 feddans and houses both British and American sections with libraries, labs, a theatre and a radio studio globally.
