Hayah International Academy was founded in 2003 by Hesham Elsewedy, Howaida Elsewedy, and co-founded by Abeya Fathy and Mohamed Magdi, establishing Egypt's first character-building school. It earned Cognia American-school accreditation in 2005 and was authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme between 2007 and 2009, with the main campus achieving IBPYP authorization in 2019. Hayah West opened in 2022 as the first Westward branch and was Cognia-accredited as an American school by 2024; in 2026 Hayah West was authorized to offer the IB Primary Years Programme.
Hayah West hosts a calendar of student-led activities, including Student Councils, HIAMUN, TEDxYouth@The Nile, Garage Sales, and an Entrepreneur Fair run on one or both campuses. Some initiatives are fully run and managed by students across campuses. Hayah Sharks compete in inter-school sports, and the calendar includes carnivals, drama productions, Quran competitions, Arabic Culture Night, and Hayah's art competitions among schools, along with EEP sports events and internships.
The PTA at Hayah West welcomes new families at the start of the year and has new boards, including a president (Sara El Zanaty). The PTA organizes community-building events and activities such as the Annual School Back Drive. For inquiries or suggestions, email pta@hayahwest.com.
