French is the language of most instruction; English and Arabic are taught as language subjects (6 hours per week labeled Anglais et arabe). The International American Section adds English-language instruction and American-language and literature courses, taught by American professionals; History-Geography is taught in English by both French and American teachers.
The school offers a bilingual and bicultural American International Section within a French homologated curriculum. It adds substantial English-language study (3–4 hours per week) and 1.5–2 hours of American culture and history; an American-speaking instructor delivers specific instruction, with methods from the partner country. The program provides diplomas specific to the section, with examinations for the DNB or Baccalauréat including English-language and American-culture components.
English-language content is delivered in an immersion-like format within the International American Section, including 50% of History-Geography taught in English by an American teacher; 3–4 hours per week of language and literature in English are added on a 36-week basis.
The Lycée Français d'Alexandrie is a French international school in Chatby, Alexandria, run by Mission Laïque Française (MLF Monde) and affiliated with AEFE. It follows a French homologated curriculum with French as the base language and hosts an American International Section that is bilingual and bicultural through cooperation with the United States. The American section adds English language and American culture components, while the standard timetable is 30 hours weekly for sixth grade; the section includes American language and literature, with total English and Arabic instruction of six hours. Examinations for the Diplôme National du Brevet and the Baccalauréat include components linked to the American program, and the International Section leads to a diploma with the American option recognized in Anglo-Saxon higher education. Entry to the International Section is decided by an eligibility commission. The school operates across two sites, Pharaons for elementary and Chatby for higher levels, with a CDI library, a science laboratory, and a music program.
