Flipper International School was founded in 1998 by Mrs. Serkaddis Seifu and Mrs. Menna Selamu. It started as a preschool and has grown to offer Early Years, Primary, Lower Secondary, Upper Secondary, and Advanced Level programs. The school operates from five locations in Addis Ababa and is Cambridge Curriculum accredited, with Cambridge Assessment International Education registration since 2018. It is today part of the ADvTECH International group.
Flipper International School fosters a safe, supportive community with opportunities in academics, sports, arts, and leadership. Policies for students and parents, including Student Code of Conduct, Parent Code of Conduct, Special Needs, and Behaviour policies, support a respectful community. The school also offers extracurricular activities and events such as sports festivals and student clubs like the Mary Joy Charity Club.
Flipper International School in Addis Ababa provides international education for ages 3 to 17, delivering a blended curriculum combining the Ethiopian and Cambridge curricula. Early Years use Montessori-inspired play-and-learn approaches to build foundational skills. The curriculum covers English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, Design & Technology, and ICT, with Amharic from Kindergarten onward and French from Grade 2. Environmental Science begins in Grade 1 and Citizenship from Grade 4 (in Amharic). Weekly Social Emotional Learning sessions support wellbeing across levels. Examinations include British National Examinations at Grade 1 and 5, Ethiopian National Examinations at Grade 8, and Cambridge assessments at primary and secondary levels, including Cambridge Primary Checkpoint, IGCSE, AS and A Levels. The school operates across five campuses, delivering education up to Grade 12. Cambridge accreditation and Cambridge Assessment Registration since 2018 underpin its framework. The school welcomes students of all nationalities and is part of the ADvTECH International group, globally and regionally.
