DBSAA serves kindergarten through secondary education and offers the International Baccalaureate program. The campus includes a library, a cafeteria, and on-site health services with a nurse and a first-aid station. The library provides a large selection of fiction and non-fiction, computer workstations for research, cozy reading corners, games, and exhibit space, with librarians to assist. The cafeteria serves Ethiopian and international meals via a cashless Amole system and is open Monday to Friday from 7:40am to 4:15pm. A nurse is available on campus weekdays to attend to student health needs, with a first-aid station on site.
The school library provides a large selection of fiction, non-fiction, picture books, magazines, CDs, and DVDs, with computer workstations for research and silent study; there are cozy reading corners, a games collection, and exhibit space. Librarians support material search, research, and reading programs. The primary program serves grades 1-4 with small classes and covers the German curriculum plus English to promote multilingualism. An International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is offered for pre-university study.
Extracurricular activities cover science, technology, arts, crafts, music, drama, community service, academics, environment, sports, gaming, and more. Popular options include soccer, science experiments, skateboarding, recycling initiatives, and arts and crafts. Registration opens at the start of each semester, is conducted online, and participation is for the full semester. Some activities have age limits or eligibility criteria.
German Embassy School Addis Ababa (DBSAA) serves over 300 students from Kindergarten to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme on a campus within the German Embassy grounds. The school teaches the German curriculum across Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary, with English instruction to promote multilingualism. Kindergarten groups of 16–20 learners are led by German-speaking educators alongside Ethiopian teaching assistants. Primary School (grades 1–4) enrolls around 105 students in small classes of about 15, delivering the German curriculum supplemented by English. Secondary School (grades 5–10) has about 100 students in classes of 12–15 and follows the German state of Thuringia's framework. The international Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is offered as a two-year pre-university option and IB accreditation was achieved in 2014. Facilities include a library, on-site health services, and a cashless cafeteria. Extracurriculars span science, arts, sports, and service, with cultural exchanges and a German School Association supporting student leadership and community engagement today.
