The school offers a broad range of after-school opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom. The Activities program includes a Model United Nations team that hosts major conferences at UN buildings and exchanges with students from other schools, and a STEAM team that competes in ISSEA events in robotics, engineering, mathematics, and science. After-school options include coding and gardening programs to extend classroom learning. There are more than 200 after-school activities available across the year.
The arts are a central part of student life. Middle and high school students participate in music, visual arts, and drama programs. Music includes bands, choirs, and orchestras, and students can pursue individual lessons. Visual arts cover painting, sculpture, digital arts, and photography, while drama offers school productions and workshops.
The school participates in ISSEA, the International Schools of Southern and Eastern Africa, which provides cultural and intercultural opportunities. ISSEA membership allows ISSEA conferences and travel, enabling interaction with peers from across the region. ICS offers a Home Language Program with eight languages as part of the community program.
ICS Addis offers a wide array of after-school activities beyond athletics, including more than 200 activities available across the year. Activities span robotics, coding, and debate, as well as drama, music, and visual arts, giving students many ways to explore interests and connect with peers.
The school has 17 student-led service clubs and a variety of service projects. Students participate in local and global service initiatives through service learning and community partnerships.
The Eagles Leadership Program empowers high school students. They are serving as role models for their younger peers and learning skills for the future. The program is highlighted as a key leadership initiative in ICS Addis' student development offerings.
The campus provides athletic facilities including a FIFA-certified soccer field, a track, a gymnasium, and a 25-meter pool for classes and competition. The campus also includes two natural grass fields and a learning garden, where tortoises roam the grounds, supporting outdoor learning and wellness.
International Community School of Addis Ababa is a non-profit international school in Ethiopia serving students aged 3 to 18. It is an IB World School offering a full continuum: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and Career-related Programme (CP). In addition, the school provides a BTEC qualification and a bespoke curriculum. The DP has been offered since 1982, with the CP added to complete the continuum. The 15-acre campus hosts two grass fields, a FIFA-certified pitch, a 25-meter Aquatics Center and hubs for Elementary and Middle School, plus High School Art Room. An Office of Learning Garden anchors outdoor learning with a student-run garden.
