Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Rispins International School originated as a study center focused on language teaching and professional development. It evolved into a formal school as a spin-off from the British International School Addis Ababa. BIS was founded in Addis Ababa in 2005 and began formal classes in 2005/2006 with 38 students from Early Years to Grade 4, in response to parental demand for international-standard education. Ownership is held by Ato Tewfik Sherif and BIS founders, and the school began in Addis Ababa before expanding to other campuses. The narrative of the school's founding is presented by Ann Rispin in the Our History section.

Community

Rispins operates campuses in Bahir Dar and Bishoftu and is a satellite of the British International School Addis Ababa. Using English and Ethiopian National curricula. The school community is diverse and inclusive, celebrating multiple cultures while fostering lifelong learning. Nations and Nationalities Day is highlighted in school activities, and Cruwys Global Trust and Gift A Chance support education and school-building initiatives.

Community projects and expanded language, professional and academic skills are emphasized through outreach. Events include Nations and Nationalities Day and Graduation Day, underscoring international exposure in an Ethiopian setting.
