Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

For over 25 years, New School, the International School of Georgia, has provided education for international understanding. It is the first IB World School in Georgia offering the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Programme for ages 3 to 19. There are almost 850 students from 40 nationalities. The school aims to educate the whole child by developing a learning mindset, critical thinking and research skills in an atmosphere of inquiry and student agency.

Community

New School has an active PTO that strengthens the connection between school and home. The PTO supports activities such as International Day, charity events, and cultural events for parents and students. It is run by a board represented by parents and teachers from both the Georgian and English sections and holds monthly meetings. Alumni are encouraged to stay engaged through events such as cultural and academic activities, socials, dinners, and receptions.

Parent-Teacher Association

The school has a Parent Teacher Organisation (PTO). The PTO aims to connect parents with the school by encouraging involvement and volunteering to improve academic and social experiences. Activities include organising International Day, charity events, and cultural events for parents and students. The PTO is run by a board represented by parents and teachers from both the Georgian and English sections and holds monthly meetings. Alumni are encouraged to stay connected through events and updates.

New School, International School of Georgia offers the IB continuum for ages 3 to 18, with PYP, MYP and DP. The school teaches in Georgian and English, with language options including English A and B, Georgian A and B, Russian, French and Spanish, plus a Mother Tongue programme. It is the first IB World School in Georgia to offer all three IB programmes. Located at 35 Tskneti Highway in Bagebi, Tbilisi, the campus features an on-site gym, a recently added basketball court, and Johannes Hahn Residence with on-site boarding, staff support, a gym, a swimming pool, gardens and play areas. The library supports learning with resources and an online Libguide, and Moodle enables blended learning. With around 850 students from 40 nationalities, the school emphasizes inquiry-led learning, research skills and student agency. Extraordinary extracurriculars include Model United Nations, TOK/EE-related activities, and a robust athletics program with over fourteen teams globally.
