The campus runs a bilingual German-Greek Gymnasium in Bavaria with two study directions: Regel (regular) and M-Zug. The M‑Zug follows the Bavarian framework and grants access to Mittlerer Schulabschluss, with onward routes to Fachoberschule (FOS) or Berufsoberschule (BOS). Since 2026 the school operates in a modern building at Max‑Diamand‑Str. 7. The program emphasizes intercultural exchange, Greek-German language learning, and educational trips, such as Kulturtag visits to the Transport Museum and trips to Hamburg and Salzburg. Academics

1st Greek Gymnasium of Munich teaches Bespoke Curriculum.

Curriculum

The school runs a bilingual German-Greek Gymnasium in Bavaria with two study directions: Regel (regular) and M-Zug. From the 2008-09 school year, the 10th grade in the M-Zug is offered; the M10 class corresponds to the Greek A' Lykeio, and the curriculum is arranged so graduates can smoothly progress to B' Lykeio in Greece for the diploma and further studies there. The M-Zug follows the Bavarian framework and requires higher standards to obtain the Mittlerer Schulabschluss. After Mittlerer Schulabschluss, graduates may enroll in Fachoberschule (FOS) or Berufsoberschule (BOS); FOS provides the allgemeine Fachhochschulreife for Fachhochschule studies, while BOS provides fachgebundene Hochschulreife allowing enrollment in Fachhochschulen, Universitäten, and Technische Universitäten in Germany in the studied field. A 13th year in BOS adds pathways, and a second foreign language can yield Allgemeine Hochschulreife enabling admission to all universities; Fachakademie offers two to five years of study with specialized exams and may lead to Fachhochschulreife, with specializations including Technik, Wirtschaft, Sozialwesen, Gestaltung, and Agrarwirtschaft.

Higher Education Progression

Mittlerer Schulabschluss enables enrollment in Fachoberschule (FOS) or Berufsoberschule (BOS). FOS yields allgemeine Fachhochschulreife for study at Fachhochschulen; Berufsoberschule (BOS) yields fachgebundene Hochschulreife enabling enrollment in Fachhochschulen, Universitäten, and Technische Universitäten in Germany in the studied field. A 13th BOS year provides additional pathways, and a second foreign language can yield Allgemeine Hochschulreife enabling admission to all universities. Fachakademien offer two to five years of study with additional exams to obtain Fachhochschulreife, and specializations include Technik, Wirtschaft, Sozialwesen, Gestaltung, and Agrarwirtschaft.
Parent Experience

History

The Greek Gymnasium Munich began as an independent unit in 1977/78, under the Greek state, with the General Consulate of Greece in Munich as operator and under Bavarian BayEUG supervision. Initially, three gymnasium classes (7th–9th) operated as a branch of the Greek School; some classes were housed in Elektrastr. 61, while most were accommodated at the Willi-Graf-Gymnasium in Schwabing. From 1980/81 to 1992/93, the 1st Gymnasium Munich functioned as an autonomous unit at Schleißheimer Str. 247 in Milbertshofen. In 1992/93–July 1996 it was housed at Heinrich-Braun-Weg 11 in Hasenbergl. In 1996/97 it merged with the 3rd Gymnasium München at Schleißheimer Str. 247; from Sept 2015 to Dec 2025 it shared the Edmund-Rumpler-Str. 9 building with the 4th Primary School Aristoteles, and since January 7, 2026 it operates in a modern building at Max-Diamand-Str. 7 in Milbertshofen, again with Aristoteles.

Community

The school holds an annual start-of-year blessing in the courtyard on September 15, 2026, with participation of the 4th Primary School Aristoteles; after the ceremony, students are informed about the school's schedule and meet their teachers. Sommerfest 2026 celebrates the graduation of the 10th and 9th grades. Announcements include information about the start of the 2026–2027 school year.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Academic & Intellectual

Educational trips are part of the school program. In Kulturtag, the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades visited the Transport Museum. The 8th grade traveled to Hamburg, and the 9th grade traveled to Salzburg. The 10th grade followed the Greek Taekwondo team at the European Championship in Munich, where the team earned two golds and three bronzes.

Arts & Creative

The school runs creative-art activities including a photography-focused project. The 'Klik! Protect the Foreign Element in Munich' photography initiative saw 9th-grade students participate and receive an honorable mention in the Artistic Photography category; a Padlet page hosts the students' work. The project uses photography to explore identity and belonging in a European city.

Cultural & Language

Cultural activities are a feature of the program. During Kulturtag, 7th-9th grades visited the Transport Museum. Greek and German exchanges and visits by other schools are documented in school activities. These events foster cross-cultural engagement.

Social & Hobbies

Social life is enriched through events such as Sommerfest and graduation celebrations for M10 and the 9th grade. Cultural gatherings and excursions contribute to student social experiences and school community life. These events provide opportunities for students to engage in team activities outside the classroom.

Community & Service

The school participates in community-awareness activities, including the photography project 'Klik! Protect the Foreign Element in Munich.' Ninth-grade students presented their work during a remote session, and the project includes a Padlet showcasing the students' work. The activities promote inclusion and social awareness within the school community.

Lifestyle & Wellbeing

Well-being is supported through social and cultural events such as Sommerfest and anti-bullying activities. The school organizes educational trips and cultural events that promote outdoor learning and community safety. By engaging in these activities, students build social skills and well-being.
