History

The Greek Gymnasium Munich began as the Greek Gymnasium München (Griechisches Gymnasium München) around 1977–1980 and operated as an autonomous unit from 1977/78 after the Greek school in Munich was reorganized into five autonomous schools. The school is operated by the Greek Republic, represented by the General Consulate of Greece in Munich, and is supervised by Bavaria's BayEUG. It occupied several buildings over the years, including Elektrastraße 61 in Bogenhausen and the Willi-Graf-Gymnasium in Schwabing; from 1992/93 to 1996 it was at Heinrich-Braun-Weg 11, then merged with the 3rd Gymnasium München at Schleißheimer Str. 247 in 1996/97. From September 2015 to December 2025 it shared Edmund-Rumpler-Str. 9 with the 4th Primary School Aristoteles, and from January 7, 2026 moved to Max-Diamand-Str. 7 in Milbertshofen.
