Three language sections (German, English, French) provide instruction in each language as the pupils' mother tongue (L1). The European Schools curriculum is used and is recognised across the European Union as equivalent to national education systems, allowing easy transfer between schools at any stage. The school places a strong emphasis on multilingual education and on high-quality tuition in languages, mathematics, science and the arts.
The school maintains a strong emphasis on the arts as part of a high-quality education in languages, mathematics and science. After-school activities include music, drama and art on the school premises, with participation voluntary. The Challenge Programme offers creative and performance projects such as a Symphonic Wind Orchestra, a Philharmonic Orchestra and other music initiatives.

From the first year of Primary, pupils study a first foreign language (L2); from the first year of Secondary, a second foreign language (L3); a third foreign language (L4) is optional from S4 and a fourth (L5) from S6.
The after-school program offers a wide range of clubs, including language clubs, sports, music, drama and art, and these take place on the school premises. Participation is voluntary and many clubs are open to nursery children.
The Parents Association is a non-profit organisation representing the parents and their children in the school bodies. It mediates between parents, pupils and the school and is responsible for the organisation of the canteen and the transport of students, as well as after-school activities and holiday care. Every family with pupils enrolled at the European School Karlsruhe can become a member of the PA.
The school provides three career advisers to support students with career guidance to maximise individual skills. The Challenge Programme offers opportunities for gifted and motivated pupils to develop through extra activities and projects, including secondary-level project work and enrichment activities.
The campus is green with numerous playgrounds and sports facilities, supporting physical development and well-being. The large outdoor area includes diverse play equipment and grouped outdoor time helps students practise language use and social skills, while the surrounding facilities support safety and security on campus.
European School Karlsruhe serves nursery through secondary education, culminating in the European Baccalaureate.
