ibms was founded in 1996 as the first bilingual school in Frankfurt am Main. It emerged from the International Montessori PreSchool, established in 1992 by committed parents. It was driven by the desire for a school where children are seen as individuals, respected, and supported bilingually. This parents' initiative grew into an international school community that continues to be shaped by engaged families to this day.
The ibms community is welcoming and international, located in central Frankfurt. The school hosts a range of events, including Carnival on 16 February 2026 with costumes, music, and shared laughter. It hosted its Christmas Market on 12 December 2025, featuring decorated stalls and seasonal treats and celebrating community spirit. The skiing trip on 1 March 2026 involved 30 students and emphasized teamwork and outdoor learning.
ibms was founded in 1996 as the first bilingual school in Frankfurt am Main, emerging from the International Montessori PreSchool established in 1992 by committed parents. It is run by a non-profit sponsoring association; education — not profit — is at the heart of every decision. The association consists predominantly of ibms parents; through the general assembly, parents actively participate, contribute ideas, and make decisions about key developments of the school, creating a close partnership between families and school leadership. The board of the sponsoring association is made up of parents and former parents; they serve on a voluntary basis and take responsibility for the strategic, financial, and organizational direction of the school, always with a clear focus: the well-being of the children and the ibms staff. Board Members include Vanessa Trixi David, Dr. Günter Hilken, David Kempf, Uta Niedernberg, Steffen Wippler. By becoming a member of the sponsoring association, you actively help shape the future of ibms; we warmly welcome every new membership application.
