IS Westpfalz opened its doors in 2017 as a pre-school and primary school. It was initiated by SBW Haus des Lernens with support from ZukunftsRegion Westpfalz, providing a significant addition to educational opportunities in the region. Rheinland-Pfalz recognises ISW as an accredited supplementary school (anerkannte Ergänzungsschule) authorised by the German Ministry of Education. The school expanded over time with the opening of Lower Secondary at Landstuhl in 2020, Cambridge International certification in 2021, expansion to Years 10 and 12 in 2022, and the first Cambridge Upper Secondary and Cambridge Advanced examinations completed in 2023.
IS Westpfalz is housed in a beautiful historic building in Landstuhl and serves children aged 4–18 with a diverse community of students from over 30 nations. It is a house of learning where teachers, students and parents work together to engage children in committed and active learning, focusing on individual potential and holistic development. The school offers a safe, inspiring and enriching environment with after-school activities such as Art Club, Music Club and Yoga. Open Day events and other community activities are part of ISW life.
The Parents & Friends (P&F) Events Committee is an active and committed parents' organization that exchanges information and meets on a regular basis. The main focus of the P&F Events Committee is to welcome new families to the school and to plan various school activities to enrich the school life of their children and strengthen the school community.
International School Westpfalz (ISW) is a private, coeducational English-language day school in Landstuhl, Germany, serving ages 4 to 18. It offers Cambridge Pathways from Primary through A Levels, and is a Cambridge International Examinations center integrated with SBW Haus des Lernens. The curriculum runs from Early Years (4–5) to Cambridge Primary (5–12), Lower Secondary (12–14), IGCSE (14–16) and Cambridge Advanced (AS & A Levels, 16–18). Instruction is in English with daily German classes and strong support for non‑English speakers. The campus is housed in a renovated 1852 nunnery; facilities include a new chemistry laboratory, interactive whiteboards, iPads and laptops, and meals prepared on site. The school emphasizes small classes, differentiated teaching, and a Personal Development Programme for 12–18-year‑olds, with coaching and Learning-to-Learn approaches. The Duke of Edinburgh Award, weekly careers sessions, and early and after-school provision complement academics and student wellbeing. ISW welcomes families and develops confident, internationally minded learners.
