Day Structure

Regular classes occur during the school day. The Hort is coordinated by tjfbg gGmbH and offers three modules: Early 6:00–7:30, Middle 13:30–16:00, and Late 16:00–18:00. For the Regelzweig, Hort care is free from 7:30–16:00.

Fees

Application fees

- There are no application fees for admission; Quentin Blake Grundschule is a state (public) primary school and attendance is free of tuition or application charges.

Tuition fees by year group (per term / per year)

- There are no tuition fees for any year group. The school is a state-funded Grundschule and does not charge termly or annual tuition.

Billing schedule and payment terms

- School attendance and core instruction are not billed. Any payable items (see Other costs below) are invoiced or collected by the external provider responsible for that service and must be paid according to that provider's billing schedule and terms. Examples: the school's daily lunch is managed and ordered through the external caterer (Luna) and must be booked in advance via the caterer's ordering system; changes to lunch participation must be cancelled with the caterer by the end of the relevant month.

- For use of the internal Hort (after‑school care) the family must obtain a Hortgutschein (voucher) from the Jugendamt; where a voucher covers a child the care is provided without parental charge for the specified times. If a parent is charged (no valid voucher or for services beyond voucher coverage), billing and payment terms are set by the Hort operator (tjfbg gGmbH).

Boarding fees

- There is no boarding provision and no boarding fees. Quentin Blake Grundschule is a day primary school.

Other costs and fees

- Lunch (midday meal): Families order and pay for school lunch through the external caterer (Luna). Lunch must be pre-ordered via the caterer's parent portal using the school's schulkürzel; the caterer issues the meal and billing according to its ordering and payment process. Temporary or permanent withdrawal from the lunch service requires cancellation with the caterer by the end of the month.

- Hort / After‑school care: The in‑school Hort is coordinated by tjfbg gGmbH and operates three modules (early, middle, late). For children with an approved Jugendamt Hortgutschein the listed core Hort provision for years 1–3 (regular branch) and for all SESB classes is provided without parental charge; families without a valid voucher or requiring extra, chargeable services will be billed by the Hort operator.

- Förderverein (Friends of QBGS) membership: Membership is voluntary. The regular membership contribution cited by the association is €25 per month (example/typical amount). Membership contributions are collected by the Förderverein to fund activities, materials and school projects; payment and collection arrangements are handled by the Förderverein.

- School merchandise / uniform: The Förderverein operates a schoolshop for branded school clothing and merchandise; prices for items are set in the shop and purchased directly through that shop.

- Optional activities, trips and materials: Field trips, project costs, special materials or external activity fees may be charged separately when applicable; these optional charges are billed individually (by the school, external providers or the Förderverein) as required. The Förderverein also supports and finances optional projects that may otherwise require parental contributions.

Refund information

- There is no school-wide tuition refund policy because the school does not charge tuition. Refunds or cancellations for paid services are handled according to the terms of the specific external provider: for lunch, cancellation must be made with the caterer by the end of the month; for Hort or other paid services, refunds and cancellation conditions are governed by the Hort operator or provider. For Förderverein contributions, membership administration and any refund questions are handled by the Förderverein.

Fee payment options

- Core school services require no payment. Paid services are transacted directly with the external provider responsible for that service: lunches are ordered and paid through the Luna parent ordering portal; Hort charges (if applicable) are coordinated through the Hort operator (tjfbg) and any parental contributions are collected as per that operator's procedure; Förderverein contributions are collected by the association through its membership process. Parents follow the payment methods and schedules specified by those providers.

If you need these fee elements presented in a different format for a database entry, the above sections list the factual fee items and who issues or collects each charge. The school itself does not charge tuition or application fees; paid items are limited to externally provided services (meals, certain optional activities, Hort where not covered by a Jugendamt voucher, and voluntary Förderverein contributions).

Quentin Blake Grundschule is a state primary school in Berlin offering two concepts: the Regular Primary Branch and the Bilingual European School Branch (SESB). The SESB provides integrated bilingual instruction in English and German from grade 1, with roughly half of the class speaking English and half German. From grades 5 and 6, Science, History and Geography are taught in English, while Mathematics remains in German; French is introduced in grades 5 and 6. The Regular Branch follows Berlin Senate guidelines, with a fixed timetable and a half-day model (8:00–14:25) and optional care before or after class. The school operates on a shared campus with the Biesalski Förderzentrum, and facilities include a four-hectare schoolyard, a sport hall (Aula), libraries, a grand-piano music room, a Mensa, and a teaching kitchen. The Erasmus+ program, the UNITED IN DIVERSITY theme, and after-school clubs foster intercultural learning. Open House Day and libraries are strengths.
