The Quentin-Blake-Grundschule is a Berlin primary school and a state bilingual European School (German-English). We share our campus with the Biesalski Förderzentrum, which focuses on physical and motor development and is on the ground floor, while our classrooms are mainly on the first floor; the building is equipped with an elevator. We share a truly large four-hectare schoolyard, the sport hall (Aula), and the teaching kitchen. Across from our campus are Coles Sport Center and a Berlin swimming hall, both reachable by a crosswalk; Coles Sport Center has a large gymnasium with a spectator tribune that we also use for teaching. We have 18 classrooms, 7 division rooms, 4 after-school care rooms, 2 libraries, and 1 large music room with a grand piano, plus a sport hall/Aula, a Mensa, and a staff lounge (Casino). The schoolyard includes climbing frames, swings, a carousel, a seesaw, a tunnel, a sandbox, a Soccer Court and a basketball court, a Bauwagen with play equipment, and a school garden for planting and harvesting.
On-site facilities include a sport hall/Aula, a Soccer Court, and a basketball court. Across the street, Coles Sport Center offers a large gym with a spectator tribune, which we also use for our lessons. Across from the campus, the Berliner Bäderbetriebe swimming hall is nearby and used for swimming lessons beginning in the third grade, with students walking there in about two minutes and always being accompanied by staff. The Coles Sport Center and the nearby pool are both reachable via a safe crosswalk for students and staff.
The school houses 18 classrooms and 7 division rooms, along with 4 Hort (after-school) rooms for supervision and activities. There are 2 libraries for student use and study, and a large music room equipped with a grand piano. The building also includes a Sporthalle/Aula for physical education, a Mensa for meals, and a staff lounge (Casino) for staff and breaks.
The school runs Erasmus+ as a long-term project with partner schools, allowing students to travel to other European countries and learn about different cultures, with updates shared via Padlet. The school emphasizes UNITED IN DIVERSITY as its pedagogical theme for the year. Open House Day provides an opportunity to learn about the school and the registration process, including presentations about the school and enrollment details.
Quentin Blake Grundschule is a state primary school in Berlin offering two concepts: the Regular Primary Branch and the Bilingual European School Branch (SESB). The SESB provides integrated bilingual instruction in English and German from grade 1, with roughly half of the class speaking English and half German. From grades 5 and 6, Science, History and Geography are taught in English, while Mathematics remains in German; French is introduced in grades 5 and 6. The Regular Branch follows Berlin Senate guidelines, with a fixed timetable and a half-day model (8:00–14:25) and optional care before or after class. The school operates on a shared campus with the Biesalski Förderzentrum, and facilities include a four-hectare schoolyard, a sport hall (Aula), libraries, a grand-piano music room, a Mensa, and a teaching kitchen. The Erasmus+ program, the UNITED IN DIVERSITY theme, and after-school clubs foster intercultural learning. Open House Day and libraries are strengths.
