The school follows the Swedish curriculum and operates according to Swedish school-year timetables. The day school currently comprises about 40 students aged 6–12, with teachers from Sweden and Norway; the German language teacher is from Germany. The language of instruction is adapted to Swedish contexts, and the school only accepts students who understand Swedish or Norwegian. After-school care is available until 17:00.
Lucia concerts are a major tradition. Students prepare a music program for Lucia during the autumn term. The Lucia concert is held on December 6, 2024, at 18:00 in Auenkirche with school students and Victoria Parish's youth choir; tickets are available at the school stand or from the rector. The school has performed at venues such as Berliner Dom and Kreuzkirche, and students produced a Christmas CD recorded at Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin.
From preschool onward, students receive instruction in Swedish, German, and English. The school aims to familiarize students with multiple cultures—Swedish, Norwegian, and German—highlighting differences and similarities. Regular study visits anchor learning by connecting Swedish and international contexts to the students' experiences.
The school provides social spaces such as a café and library, where students, parents, staff, and visitors meet. The café offers a warm atmosphere with Swedish treats, and the library houses literature, audiobooks, magazines, and films, with Swedish media shown during special events. The schoolyard and indoor gym support physical activity, including climbing frames, football, handball, basketball, table tennis, and swings; the yard is renovated annually.
The school supports student democracy through class councils and a school council, promoting open discussion and participation in democratic decision-making. Students are encouraged to respect others' views and to express their own opinions. Regular development conversations involve parents, students, and teachers to guide learning and support ongoing growth.
The school's Berlin location provides access to a rich local environment for learning. Frequent excursions to parks, lakes, and forests support outdoor education and recreation. The building includes a gym, and the large schoolyard offers facilities for physical activity, including a climbing frame, football, handball, basketball, table tennis, a sandbox, and swings; the yard is renovated annually.
Situated in Berlin, the Swedish School in Berlin gGmbH is an international day school serving students from age 4 to 18. The school follows the Swedish curriculum for Grundskolan, Förskoleklass and fritidshemmet according to Lgr22, while integrating overseas Swedish regulations and aligning with Berlin's primary school requirements. Instruction begins with Swedish alongside German and English from preschool, with language profiles developing through year 6. The multilingual environment reflects Swedish, Norwegian and German contexts. The campus at Landhausstrasse 26-28 houses a Swedish-speaking community plus the Svenska Victoriaförsamlingens förskola in the same building; the facilities include an indoor sports hall and a well-equipped schoolyard used for frequent local excursions. The school emphasises practical learning through age-integrated classes, after-school care until 17:00, and opportunities in music and culture, most notably the annual Lucia concert. With a small, school-based community, the school nurtures individual progress while connecting students to Berlin's cultural landscape worldwide.
