Introduction

International Metropolitan School Primary is a co-educational bilingual school in Argyroupoli, Athens, offering Grades 1–6 within the authorised International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. Teaching takes place in Greek and English, with Greek as an Additional Language support available for international pupils. The PYP connects languages, mathematics, science, social studies, arts and physical education through inquiry-based units organised around six international themes. Facilities supporting the curriculum include the Dimosthenis Library, with study, information-technology and printing resources, together with the Democritus Chemistry Laboratory and Archimedes Physics Laboratory for practical science learning. Students can also access a Homework Club, school transport and activities including football, basketball, fencing, tennis, skiing and hiking. A distinctive element is the Grade 6 PYP Exhibition. Students select an issue, undertake an extended inquiry with teacher guidance and present their work to the school community as the concluding experience of the Primary Years Programme.
