International School of Piraeus offers the Primary Years Programme (PYP) as an IB-accredited program. ISP has been an IB-accredited school since 2013 and undergoes external assessment every five years. The PYP provides a transdisciplinary, inquiry-based, student-centered approach to teaching and learning, designed to foster lifelong learning. The programme emphasizes the total growth of the developing child—intellectual, physical, emotional, and social—through rigorous assessment and emphasis on intercultural understanding and respect.
An afternoon program is available until 16:50 at an additional cost, and extracurricular activities are offered. Early Years students can participate in the afternoon aftercare program. Grade 1 has an outdoor classroom once a week as part of the school's offerings. The IB framework promotes inquiry-based learning and learner profiles that support personal and social development through activities beyond the core curriculum.
The IB framework emphasizes intercultural understanding and inclusion. Students are encouraged to reflect, make informed choices and take action that helps peers, school staff, and local or global community. The PYP promotes attitudes such as empathy, cooperation and responsibility in service to others. The school's programs aim to connect learning with local and global issues through the exhibition and inquiry processes.
