The International School of Piraeus was founded in 1922 in Piraeus by Marika Petraki and Konstantinos Valsamidis as a private school offering primary and secondary education for boys and girls. The school introduced English and French languages and programs in music, singing, dance, theatre, fashion design and sewing. In 2013, the granddaughters of Marika and Konstantinos Valsamidis implemented the International Baccalaureate programme and established a bilingual Greek-English school. ISP received accreditation from the International Baccalaureate Organisation in 2015, and in 2022 expanded with the opening of the International Metropolitan School in Alimos.
ISP provides a multilingual environment based on the IB/PYP programme for children from 2.5 to 12 years old. A bilingual curriculum is offered from the start and foreign languages are introduced from the 3rd grade: French, German and Spanish. An Outdoor Classroom is used for 3- to 7-year-olds, and technology is integrated with iPad and iBooks. Extracurricular activities include Ju Jitsu, Mini Tennis, Minecraft Education, Robotics, Book to Art Club, Mind Challenge and more.
The International School of Piraeus (ISP) teaches the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) in combination with the National curriculum and offers a bilingual Greek–English learning experience from the start. Catered to ages 3 to 12, ISP adopts a transdisciplinary, inquiry‑based, student‑centred approach that develops intellectual, physical, emotional and social growth through rigorous assessment and intercultural understanding. Since 2013 ISP has held IB accreditation and undergoes external assessment every five years. The school opened the International Metropolitan School in Alimos in 2022, expanding its footprint. Facilities include grade‑level classrooms with PC access, internet, smartboards, and dedicated spaces for PE, visual arts and STEM. The two libraries house over 8,000 books, including more than 3,800 English titles. A STEM/Visual Arts space features a 20+ PC lab and a 3D printer. An outdoor classroom, all‑weather outdoor and indoor playing areas, a well‑equipped kitchen, and campus‑wide digital platforms support teaching and well‑being. Everyday.
