Platon School bears the name of the great Greek philosopher Plato. Our history begins in September 1969 with the establishment of a Nursery and Primary School in a restored neoclassical house in Psychico, Athens. In 1977 Platon School starts the Gymnasium. In 1979, with the support of many loyal families, we moved to our own educational facilities in Stavros. In 1981 we began the operation of our Lyceum. Today, our efficient teachers and staff strive for excellence and welcome enthusiasm, serving the educational needs of our students. Our aim is to inspire them to become well‑rounded individuals and citizens of the world while upholding the values and ideals of Greek culture.
PLATON School supports students' international mindedness and global identity by interweaving national and international educational programmes within a true bilingual environment. Social education focuses on communicating effectively in more than one language, collaborating, becoming active citizens, and showing empathy within communities. Multicultural education, environmental education, information literacy education, and financial education are integral parts of the school curriculum, helping to develop knowledgeable, caring citizens. We focus on 21st‑century learning and aim to shape reflective, curious, and responsible global citizens.
The Association of Parents and Guardians is very active and parents participate in educational, artistic, athletic, entertaining and social actions, enlarging the learning community. Parents are thoroughly informed about the work inside and outside the classroom so they can respond to their children's inquiries. Interaction and communication between the School and the family occurs in many forms, including topic‑specific parent groups, the Association of Parents and Guardians, volunteering parents, meetings with parents, teachers and the School Administration, and events held by the School and the students. Parent groups and individual meetings with the School psychologists and other collaborators support family engagement. The local and wider community also plays an important part in school life, with children interacting with the social environment through educational actions and social action initiatives.
