Christian Alliance P.C. Lau Memorial International School was founded in 1992 under the Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance. The school suspended operations in 2017 to undergo significant renovations and planning for a refreshed vision. It officially reopened in August 2020 as an Alberta-accredited international primary school. Today, CAPCL continues to operate under the ownership of the church, combining faith-based education with the Canadian Alberta curriculum.
The school community at CAPCL is closely connected to its Christian foundation and emphasizes family involvement. Events often include school–church collaborations, such as Boys’ Brigade, Awana programs, and children’s worship activities. Students also take part in extracurricular activities across arts, sports, and STEM, contributing to a vibrant community life. These opportunities create regular points of connection for students, staff, and families beyond the classroom.
CAPCL launched its Parent Support Group (PSG) in January 2021 to strengthen the partnership between families and the school. The PSG meets around five times per year, focusing on enhancing communication, supporting school initiatives, and organizing community activities. Specific contributions include library volunteering, such as book-wrapping, storytelling, and recommending new titles. Parents are also involved in planning school events and providing feedback on student experiences. The PSG acts as a bridge between teachers, leadership, and families, reinforcing the school’s commitment to collaboration and community.
