Grace Christian Academy was founded in January 2011 as Almitas Academy, a private, not-for-profit Christian school led by founder and supervisor Mrs. Chan-Yeo Peck Leng. Mrs. Chan-Yeo, a Singaporean who has lived in Hong Kong for more than 30 years, began by homeschooling her two sons in 2003, which inspired the school's mission to combine Bible-based education with character development. In January 2013 the academy registered as a non-profit organization and changed its English name to Grace Christian Academy. In 2018 the school obtained a license to operate Secondary 1–3, and in 2020 it expanded to Secondary 4–6, with the COVID-19 period marking remote and blended learning. The curriculum is designed as a tailor-made, Bible-based and character-based program.
Grace Christian Academy Hong Kong fosters a vibrant school community through events that engage students, families, and the wider local community. The Inaugural Student Art Exhibition and Fund-Raising Event ran January 25–31, 2013, with the theme God's Beauty in My Eyes, and proceeds supported tuition sponsorships. The school followed with its First Student Musical Performance on June 28, 2013, and a public Christmas Carol in West Kowloon on December 7, 2013, as well as later Christmas Carol events in 2016 at Olympian City and in 2017 at Olympic City Two. The school also celebrated its Inaugural High School Graduation Ceremony on June 30, 2021.
Grace Christian Academy Hong Kong does not list a separate PTA; instead, it runs a Volunteer program under Connect that actively involves parents and staff in school life. Volunteering opportunities cover teaching assistance, school beautification, marketing materials design, leading parental workshops, outdoor education activities or field trips, administrative support, sharing Gospel messages, and supporting events as photographers or videographers. Parental involvement is encouraged, with volunteers able to lead parental workshops or seminars to help families nurture their children. The program emphasizes year-round involvement, noting that volunteers have contributed over the years and that there is an Apply Now option to join. Volunteering at GCA is described as a rewarding experience for both families and staff.
