International Christian School (ICS) was founded in 1992 by a group of parents, educators, and missionaries who wanted to provide an English-medium, Christ-centred education in Hong Kong. The school is independently governed and operates as a not-for-profit institution. Over time, it has expanded to include separate campuses for Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle, and High School. The Kindergarten campus in Ma On Shan serves as the entry point for young learners within the broader ICS community, maintaining the school’s founding mission of combining Christian faith with high-quality education.
The ICS Kindergarten community includes families from a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. The school encourages parent involvement through volunteering, chapel attendance, and participation in class activities and field trips. Community values such as respect, helpfulness, and service are promoted through weekly chapel and classroom events. The environment is intentionally warm and cooperative, with teachers and parents working together to support the social and spiritual growth of young children.
Although there is no named PTA body, parental engagement and partnership are an integral part of daily school operations and community life.
Located in Ma On Shan, International Christian School Kindergarten offers a nurturing, English-medium Christian education for children aged 3 to 5. With small classes of just 18 students and a 1 : 9 teacher-student ratio, the programme focuses on early literacy, language development, and social-emotional growth through play-based learning. Instruction is delivered in English and Putonghua, and students attend a weekly chapel to learn Biblical principles. Morning and afternoon sessions accommodate family schedules, and a school-run bus service supports safe travel. Parents are active participants through volunteer and community activities. As the first stage of the wider ICS continuum, the Kindergarten provides a strong foundation in character, faith, and early academics within a warm, international setting anchored in Christ.
