The Lower Primary campus of Kingston International School follows the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), delivered through a bilingual English and Putonghua (Mandarin) model. Each class is jointly taught by one English-speaking and one Putonghua-speaking teacher to promote balanced language development. The curriculum is inquiry-based and encourages students to explore transdisciplinary themes across language, mathematics, science, social studies, arts, and personal development. Learning is supported by specialist lessons in music, visual arts, and physical education. This stage, covering Years 1 to 3, builds the foundation for the Upper Primary years (Years 4 to 6) within the same IB PYP framework, preparing students to transition confidently to later stages of bilingual primary education.
Kingston International School’s Lower Primary campus, at 113 Waterloo Road in Kowloon Tong, serves children aged 5 to 8 (Years 1 to 3) within the school’s IB Primary Years Programme. Each class is co-taught by an English teacher and a Putonghua teacher, supporting bilingual learning in both languages. Students participate in a variety of enrichment activities, including the Choir, Orchestra, and Newspaper Club, as well as community-based initiatives like the Kingston Environmental Group and Student Representative Council. Located in a central but peaceful neighbourhood of Hong Kong, the Lower Primary campus is part of a three-campus network that continues the school’s bilingual early years education into the primary grades.
