Malvern College Hong Kong opened its doors in August 2018 on a greenfield site adjacent to the Hong Kong Science Park after a competitive allocation process for the site. It is the Hong Kong affiliate of Malvern College UK, which was founded in 1865 and has a long heritage of British‑style education. The school is part of the Malvern College Family of Schools, a growing network that shares a common Malvern DNA and the Five Centres of Excellence: British‑style pastoral care; enhanced learning; entrepreneurial education; outdoor and environmental education; and a global network. Governance is provided through the Malvern College UK partnership, with UK members appointed to the College Council and regular quality assurance inspections by Malvern College UK. Malvern College Pre‑School Hong Kong (Coronation Circle) began operating in August 2017, and Island West campus followed in 2019, marking the HK family's early expansion prior to the main campus opening.
Malvern College Hong Kong uses a British‑style House System with six houses: Elgar; Lewis; MacLaurin; Weatherill; Morgan; and Blenheim. The house system includes assemblies, social dining in the Grub, and inter‑house competitions, creating a sense of family and community across the school. The school places a strong emphasis on pastoral care and pupil wellbeing, with staff trained to monitor wellbeing and regular wellbeing audits that involve pupils and parents. Co‑curricular activities, expeditions, leadership programmes and Forest‑Beach School operate as part of an expansive programme under the Five Centres of Excellence, and the campus maintains active links with the wider Malvern College network for cross‑campus collaboration and opportunities.
There is no publicly described standalone Parent‑Teacher Association for Malvern College Hong Kong on the public site. Parent involvement is facilitated through school‑organised channels such as Malvern Meets information sessions for prospective parents and pupil‑led campus tours. The Malvern College Pre‑School Hong Kong runs a Parents Partnership programme that includes a ‘Parenting Programme' and regular ‘Parent Insight' sessions, with opportunities to visit classes, volunteer, read stories and engage in home–school activities. The Pre‑School site also promotes Home‑School Partnership and bi‑weekly Playgroup newsletters to keep parents informed. Alumni and parent communities engage across the Malvern College network, including events run by the Malvernian Society and Hong Kong gatherings. Information sessions and campus tours (Malvern Meet and Pupil‑led Campus Tour) are key elements of parent engagement.
Malvern College Hong Kong is an IB World School offering the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme for ages 5 to 18. The campus sits in Pak Shek Kok by Tolo Harbour, close to Hong Kong Science Park and major universities, and includes seven science laboratories, a 480-seat auditorium, an indoor pool, and a rooftop skypitch. The school runs an English-medium curriculum, with mandatory daily Chinese (Mandarin, simplified) and options to study a third language such as French, Spanish or Japanese. A distinctive feature is its Forest-Beach School, providing regular outdoor learning for younger pupils. Malvern also highlights STEM through collaborations and enrichment, and offers broad co-curricular choices including music ensembles, coding, robotics, MUN, environmental groups and the Hong Kong Award for Young People. School bus routes are available.
