It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
Peak School was established in 1911, beginning with just a handful of students taught in a private home on The Peak. The school later moved to the old Peak Hotel, then to a site that became the Peak Fire Station, before settling at its current location in 1954 on the former Peak Club site. It is one of the oldest institutions within the English Schools Foundation (ESF) network, operating under ESF’s governance framework for education in Hong Kong. Over more than a century, the school has maintained its focus on providing primary education for an internationally diverse community.
The Peak School community represents families from more than twenty nationalities, with English as the main language of communication. The school promotes inclusivity and engagement through a range of events and activities organised across the year, often involving both students and parents. Annual highlights include cultural celebrations, sporting activities, and community fundraisers that strengthen connections among families, staff, and students.
The Peak School PTA plays an active role in supporting learning and community life. It contributes funding for campus improvements and educational resources such as reading materials, software, and author visits. The PTA organises social and fundraising events, including community fairs and school celebrations, and it coordinates the Class Parent network to enhance communication between teachers and families. It also publishes an annual school directory and supports health and safety initiatives, such as providing mosquito traps, air filters, and water purifiers for classrooms. The PTA maintains regular contact with the school leadership team to ensure parent perspectives are represented in decision-making.
Peak School is an IB World School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for children aged 5–11, with a two-form entry and around 360 students. Located on The Peak, the campus is reachable from Central via minibus 1 and Citybus 15; the school notes that there is no on-site parking. Learning follows an inquiry-based PYP approach, with “specialist subjects” enriching classroom learning and a strong programme of sports, expressive arts, and cultural activities at lunch and after school. Outdoor learning includes a staged camp and trip programme beginning in Year 3. Student support is detailed, with a School Counselor, Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSA), and a Learning Diversity Team of specialist teachers and educational assistants; outside providers offer speech and language and occupational therapy, and the school runs animal-assisted therapy on site. Daily transport is provided by Kwoon Chung Motors (KCM) under a dedicated bus service for families.
