The school follows the Singapore curriculum framework, adapted to the Hong Kong context. The Preparatory Years programme focuses on holistic development across physical, intellectual, moral, emotional and social domains. There is a through-train pathway from Preparatory Years to pre-university levels, with many IB Diploma Programme students having begun in the Preparatory Years and Primary section.
The Preparatory Years Programme includes aesthetic development as part of its holistic education. The English language curriculum uses a language-arts approach with storytelling to teach listening, reading, speaking and writing. The bilingual policy provides English and Putonghua language development and cultural awareness.
The main medium of instruction is English, with Putonghua as part of the bilingual programme. English and Chinese (Putonghua) are both taught as first languages, with English used in most subjects and activities. The Chinese programme develops language proficiency, including writing and speaking, and fosters appreciation of Chinese culture. Chinese in the secondary section is taught using simplified script.
The Preparatory Years and Primary Programme emphasise holistic development including physical and social wellbeing. The school upholds values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Integrity, Care and Harmony (3RICH). The Nam Long Shan Campus, housing the Preparatory Years and Primary Section, is designed to support learning in and out of classrooms.
