Uniform Requirement

AISB does not have a school uniform. Dress should be neat and appropriate for school; clothing should cover underwear and midriff, and not display inappropriate language or logos. Separate indoor shoes are required; winter clothing should be suitable for outdoor play.

Food Options

AISB offers on-site meals via a campus cafeteria. Grade 5 students and older have access to the Building B cafeteria during lunchtime. Elementary students do not have access to Building B Cafeteria, Coffee Shop, or vending machines; an Elementary Coffee Shop operates after school from 3:30 PM to 3:40 PM.

AISB is a private, non-profit educational institution founded in 1973 by the United States Embassy to serve U.S. Government employees' dependents. AISB is governed by an 11-person Board of Trustees.

American International School of Budapest (AISB) offers an American Curriculum with IB Diploma and pathway for students aged 3–18. English is the language of instruction, with World Languages part of the curriculum. The high school program follows an American model in an international context, offering a range of courses . Students graduate with the AISB High School Diploma, the IB Diploma, or a combination such as AISB Diploma + IB Diploma or AISB Diploma + Innovation Diploma. Established in 1973 by the U.S. Embassy, AISB serves a globally diverse student body and provides the Global Impact Diploma and a Dual Diploma (GID + IB). The 16-hectare campus houses Middle/High and Elementary buildings, libraries, theatres, a design technology suite, and arts facilities, plus two gyms, a 25m pool, a theatre, and playing fields. Co-curriculars include MUN, debate, robotics, and Celebrations of the Arts.
