AISB was established in 1973 by the United States Embassy to serve U.S. Government families. It now serves a globally diverse student body from many nationalities. The school is governed by a Board of Trustees drawn from AISB's active parent community. The Global Impact Diploma and a Dual Diploma that combines the GID with the IB diploma illustrate AISB's commitment to innovative, learner-centered pathways.
AISB fosters a vibrant international community with events that celebrate culture and collaboration. The International Festival brings families together for food, performances, and cultural dress, organized with support from the PSA. The school also hosts student- and community-led initiatives such as the Changemakers Conference and ongoing clubs and service projects.
AISB has a Parent School Association (PSA) that coordinates parent involvement and communications with the school. The PSA runs regular news items and events, including parent sessions such as Steering a Fast Mind and other Parents in Partnership offerings, and features posts about student service activities. The PSA page shows ongoing engagement with 2025–2026 posts and mentions events like the International Festival. The PSA is actively referenced in AISB news and on its Parent School Association page.
