Boarding Arrangements

Afternoon care is provided Monday to Friday and includes a planned sequence of activities; it covers a shared meal and supervised time for completing homework, followed by recreational activities.

Uniform Requirement

There is no school uniform. Clothing should be appropriate; head coverings are removed in school; students wear indoor slippers and leave street shoes in the cloakroom.

Food Options

Lunch is provided as part of the after-school care; the program includes a meal during the afternoon groups. The afternoon care ends in the early evening. External fast food orders are not allowed, and water is the preferred drink while sugary drinks are not permitted.

Governance and Ownership

The Österreichisch-Ungarische Europaschule is governed by the non-profit Stiftung Österreichisch-Ungarische Europaschule. The Stiftung is overseen by a Kuratorium (board) led by Chair Mag. Kurt Langthaler, with members including Br. Vicentiu Ghiurca, Mag. Hanspeter Huber, Dr. Werner Jisa, OSR Alfred Brychta, Mag. Christian Hofmann, Evelin Stanzer, Dr.in Andrea Dorner, and Bernhard Mayr, MEd (Schulleiter). Austrian teachers are dispatched by the Republic of Austria and paid by Austria. The Stiftung funds necessary materials, operations, and Hungarian teaching staff, and sets the parental contribution. For the current school year, the parental contribution is HUF 1,050,000, and the contribution for after-school care (including lunch) is HUF 652,000.

Österreichisch-Ungarische Europaschule Budapest is a day school with after‑school care serving students aged 6 to 14. The school follows a bespoke bilingual German–Hungarian program with equal status for Hungarian and German, issuing bilingual certificates recognised in Hungary, Austria and the wider EU. Housed at Istenhegyi út 32 in Budapest, it operates under the Austrian-Hungarian Educational Center, from kindergarten through Matura. The curriculum emphasises sustainable education and the development of language, media, social and methodological competencies, while encouraging autonomous, student‑centred learning as pupils take increasing responsibility for their progress. Governance includes a Stiftung, Kuratorium and Aufsichtsrat; Austrian teachers are seconded by Austria. Since 1995, more than 900 students have completed the Europaschule, with over 95% continuing to Gymnasium. Facilities include a lunch service and daily afternoon care until 16:30. The school offers diverse clubs: STEM activities, drama and music, and Model UN, reflecting a strong emphasis on holistic development for students.
