Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school has a Wellbeing & Mental Health program that provides immediate emotional support, empathetic assistance, guidance, mindfulness practices and information to help learners navigate challenges and access resources and interventions. A Wellbeing Committee brings together teachers, students, and parents to champion a culture of care across the school, coordinating collaborative initiatives and open dialogue so that every member feels supported, heard, and valued. Daily practices include self-care (rest, physical health, screen breaks); perspective (it's okay not to be okay; progress matters more than perfection); growth (mistakes are part of learning; celebrate small wins); and relationships & support (asking for help; healthy boundaries; gratitude and kindness). There is a responsive email helpline to address the emotional and social needs of students with care and confidentiality. Social-emotional learning is woven into the school culture as part of the aLphabet approach to wellbeing and student development.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The academic experience is guided by an Academic Guidance program that helps students identify their strengths and passions and set meaningful academic and personal goals. Growth & Progress are supported through consistent mentoring and progress tracking to ensure each student is appropriately challenged and supported to grow. The Community of Support involves teachers, mentors, and peers working together to inspire and motivate every learner.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school provides English language support for students who find the language challenging to speak, write or comprehend. Support may take multiple forms, including peer scaffolding, bilingual glossaries, simplified instructions, and structured language sessions.

Mental Wellbeing

Mental wellbeing is prioritized through the Wellbeing & Mental Health program, which offers immediate emotional support, empathetic assistance, guidance, mindfulness practices and information to connect learners with resources and interventions. Daily practices include self-care, perspective, growth, and relationships & support to foster resilience. A Wellbeing Committee unites teachers, students, and parents to promote a culture of care across the school, and a confidential email helpline addresses emotional and social needs with care and professionalism. The program aims to help learners navigate challenges and grow into healthier, more resilient individuals.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is supported by the Wellbeing Committee and a confidential email helpline for addressing students' emotional and social needs. General inquiries and safeguarding-related concerns can be directed through the school's contact channels, and the site also includes a Non-Discrimination Policy as part of its safeguarding framework.
