PYP is student-centered and teacher-facilitated, with small class sizes and low student–teacher ratios, and uses inquiry-based learning. A co-teaching classroom model and a specialist programme support differentiated, individualized instruction. The PYP uses inquiry-based learning to build understanding across subjects. The MYP provides a broad base of disciplines and emphasizes a balanced development across affective, cognitive, creative and physical dimensions, with eight subject groups including English, Hindi, Spanish, Mathematics, Sciences, Arts, Physical Education, and Design. The Diploma Programme is a two-year pre-university program for ages 16–19 that emphasizes CAS, Extended Essay, and Theory of Knowledge to foster intercultural understanding and global readiness.

Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The Primary Years Programme is student-centered and learning is teacher facilitated. The teachers become coaches whose mission is to support the individual strengths of each child while providing curriculum that challenges each student. Investigation gives students an opportunity to work together and build friendships and strengthen social skills in the context of play. In the Middle Years Programme, the advisory programme provides an opportunity for students to share their thoughts, engage in team building, bond with students from other grade levels and practice social skills in an environment open to exchange of ideas. Communication among teachers, parents and students about accomplishments and future goals supports a culture of care and student social-emotional development.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Inclusion is a core aspect of Ascend. Universal Design for Learning, differentiated instruction, and multi-tiered systems of support are used to ensure access for all learners. The job of the teacher is to interact with individual students carefully and create individualized instructional strategies based on what each child needs at each stage of their learning process. The IB programmes emphasize the development of the whole child, including social and emotional development.

Mental Wellbeing

The Middle Years Programme emphasizes the development of the whole child: affective, cognitive, creative and physical. The advisory programme includes interpersonal relationships, cyber safety, health & hygiene curriculum and service learning. Ascend supports healthy minds and bodies and emphasizes balance for overall wellbeing through athletics and physical education. The philosophy highlights care for the whole child and the responsibility to communicate about accomplishments and goals for wellbeing.

Safeguarding

The school is committed to safeguarding and child protection, with policies aligned to the International Task Force on Child Protection. Leadership emphasizes a culture of care, ensuring every child feels known, valued and empowered to thrive.

Admissions

Admissions

Admission PP: The admissions process is designed to get to know each child and family on a personal level. For Pre-Primary learners (Half Day, KG1, KG2), the school aims to understand each child's personality, learning style, and developmental needs while helping families learn about the school philosophy and community. The process for Academic Year 2026–2027 unfolds in five steps. Step 1 – September 2025 – School Tours: Parents attend a tour to experience the community, observe classrooms, explore specialist spaces, and meet faculty and leadership. If located outside India, a virtual introduction via Zoom can be arranged. Tour dates are released on the 26th of each month at 10:00 AM IST for the following month, and registration is via the Inquiry Form; tours are by reservation, space is limited, and on a first-come, first-served basis. Tours run about 90 minutes and include a Q&A; late arrivals require rescheduling. Step 2 – September to November – Application & Document Submission: After attending a tour, families receive the online Admissions Application and all necessary supporting documents. Once the application and documents are received, families are invited for a Parent/Guardian Interview. Step 3 – September to November – Parent Interview: A one-on-one interview with the faculty or leadership team, lasting about 40–60 minutes. The interview is an opportunity to share more about the child, their interests, and learning journey, and to ask questions about Ascend's philosophy, curriculum, or community. Step 4 – December – Student Visit Day: For Pre-Primary applicants, a Student Visit Day is held (date: December 6, 2025). Eligibility requires submission of all documents and completion of the parent interview. The visit is a group session of about 90 minutes with playful learning experiences, movement/dance, and a storybook read-aloud. Attendance is essential, and both parents are not required to attend. This is the only Student Visit Day for the year. Step 5 – December – Admission Decisions: Following the Student Visit Day, admission decisions for the Pre-Primary Program (Half Day, KG1, KG2) for Academic Year 2026–2027 are released by mid-December 2025. Age criteria are observed to ensure readiness for Ascend's program: Half Day Program requires a minimum age of 3.6 years by August 1, 2026; KG1 requires 4.6 years; KG2 requires 5.6 years.
