Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

BIS focuses on the all-round development of children within a close-knit community and provides individual attention to each student, making learning accessible to all. The Early Years program emphasizes building self-esteem, confidence, independence, and collaborative skills. The Elementary School environment celebrates diversity and provides a warm, nurturing atmosphere for learners. The High School offers Cambridge IGCSE in Grades 9–10 and a choice between Cambridge A-Levels or the IB Diploma Programme in Grades 11–12, supporting broad intellectual and personal growth. The overall approach includes emotional well-being as part of holistic development.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The Learning Centre is BIS's inclusive education feature with a robust Special Education Needs (SEN) section. Established in 2003, it offers inclusive education along a continuum from partial to full general classroom placement depending on each student's needs. The school values each learner and provides services to support learning and growth, aiming to offer an inclusive learning experience and to sensitise the BIS community to accepting and celebrating differences.

Mental Wellbeing

There is an explicit emphasis on emotional well-being as part of BIS's holistic development focus, with equal emphasis on academics, arts, sports, and emotional well-being.
