Hopetown Girls' School sits on a fifty-acre campus in a picturesque valley near Dehradun, surrounded by a Sal forest with views of the lower Mussoorie hills. The founder, Mr Kamal Sehgal, aimed to build a school for five hundred girls and to develop the infrastructure for them over the years. He wanted a happy place for children to grow up in and chose a 'happy girl' as the school's logo.
Hopetown runs Model United Nations programs and participates in inter-school MUNs. The Creative Arts program features a large orchestra and opportunities in art and design, with involvement in music and performing arts. The library program fosters enthusiastic readers. The annual yearbook documents school activities, including Model United Nations.

The curriculum includes Cambridge Lower Secondary and IGCSE alongside ICSE and ISC, with strong facilities such as a large, airy library, laboratories, and arts studios. The Performing Arts Centre is state-of-the-art, and the school hosts one of the largest orchestras among schools in India. Yoga and karate are mandatory for all students, and athletics features national-level competition. Extracurriculars cover dance, music, drama, and Art and Design, plus opportunities through ISTA and a leadership, debate-focused program. A global alumni network supports leadership and service initiatives beyond school life. The Photography Club publishes its own calendar and hosts a yearly exhibition annually.
