Boarding, Uniform and Food

Daily life details and school culture

Boarding Arrangements

Boarding life includes accommodation in separate buildings for junior girls, senior girls, junior boys and senior boys, designed to house up to 450 students. A housemaster, tutors and a matron reside in the student houses to provide round-the-clock supervision. There is an in-house infirmary with two resident nurses and a visiting pediatrician; emergency care is supported by a nearby multi-specialty hospital. Tuck from home is not allowed; if sent, it is distributed among all. The boarders have access to a student-run cafeteria on campus.

Uniform Requirement

Uniforms are available at the School; new students receive a clothing list detailing the articles to be brought and those the school will supply. Parents must ensure that no more and no less than the required articles are sent with the child; the school advises not to send expensive personal items since the school will not be responsible for their loss.

Food Options

Multi-cuisine meals are prepared in-house by professional cooks in a hygienic kitchen. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are prepared separately; the menu includes Punjabi, South Indian, Chinese and Continental dishes. The menu is designed with input from a nutritionist and a dining hall committee consisting of students and staff.

House System

The Asian School has four houses: Ashoka (Red), Arjun (Green), Ranjeet (Blue) and Shivaji (Yellow). Students remain in the same house throughout their time at the school and participate in inter-house competitions; merit points are awarded for academics and conduct and contribute to house rewards.

Governance and Ownership

The Asian School is governed by a School Management Committee (SMC) comprising a Chairman, a Secretary, and members including Society Members, teachers, and parent representatives; board-nominated members are also included. The committee members include Mr. Madanjeet Singh (Chairman) and Mrs. Ruchi Pradhan Datta (Secretary), among others.
