India, Delhi/new Delhi
Let the school know you're thinking of applying — they can share their prerequisites and help you through the process.
It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
The school has no boarding facilities; it is a day school. Students must reside with at least one parent/guardian in Delhi NCR who has full responsibility for the child.
The school requires uniforms for all students. Primary and Secondary have separate summer and winter daily wear, and a house-colour physical education uniform; IB students wear a dress code instead of a uniform. Uniforms may be bought from the uniform shop on the premises.
Meals are prepared on site as part of a hot lunch programme and are largely organic. A wide selection of organic snacks and healthy options is available.
Governance is provided by The British School Society's Board of Governors, comprising nine elected parent representatives; up to three co-opted members (including up to two nominated by the British High Commission); the Director; and one elected teacher representative. The President of the Society is the British High Commissioner appointed to India at the time. The Board provides strategic and fiduciary direction and oversees school operations.
The British School New Delhi sits on a Chanakyapuri campus serving ages 3–17. It offers the Early Years Foundation Stage, the English National Curriculum, Cambridge IGCSE, and two IB pathways: the Diploma Programme and the Career-related Programme. In Primary, EYFS leads into the National Curriculum of England, with a focus on English, Maths, Humanities and PSHE, and Hindi from Year 1. In Secondary, students progress through Key Stage 3, IGCSE and the IB courses. English as an Additional Language support and Gifted & Talented programmes support diverse learners. The campus is a 5-star GRIHA-rated building with solar energy, wastewater recycling and indoor air purification. Facilities include tech-enabled classrooms, science and computing labs, an IB centre, a library, an Innovation Lounge and a heated half-Olympic pool. The school is Round Square member and hosts ISACI World Music Choral Festival, with after-school activities and internships from Oxford and Cambridge graduates.
