The school serves a multicultural and multilingual community of students and staff from 60 nationalities. English as an Additional Language (EAL) support is provided, with a CLIL approach and programmes TEAL, DEAL, MEAL, SEAL and HEAL. Hindi is offered through a Hindi Language Club in primary enrichment, and a Modern Foreign Language is offered at Ab Initio level in the IB Diploma Programme. Assessment includes formal and informal language assessments, with a standardised WIDA evaluation for exit criteria and progression where applicable.
Content Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is used within the English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme. This approach integrates language learning with subject learning. It supports learners across the curriculum.
The British School New Delhi sits on a Chanakyapuri campus serving ages 3–17. It offers the Early Years Foundation Stage, the English National Curriculum, Cambridge IGCSE, and two IB pathways: the Diploma Programme and the Career-related Programme. In Primary, EYFS leads into the National Curriculum of England, with a focus on English, Maths, Humanities and PSHE, and Hindi from Year 1. In Secondary, students progress through Key Stage 3, IGCSE and the IB courses. English as an Additional Language support and Gifted & Talented programmes support diverse learners. The campus is a 5-star GRIHA-rated building with solar energy, wastewater recycling and indoor air purification.
