The school runs a PSHME programme covering social and emotional issues for all students in Grades 6-9. Form Tutors monitor wellbeing and provide daily contact as the first point of contact. Grade Coordinators oversee grade levels and liaise with parents on academic and pastoral matters. A hierarchical support system ensures every student has opportunities to talk with staff about personal concerns, with a dedicated Pastoral Coordinator and full-time School Counsellors available for confidential support. The Deputy Principal Pastoral and the School Counsellors lead awareness sessions on topics such as anti-bullying, anti-vaping, digital safety and healthy lifestyle choices. Well-being Prefects coordinate student-led wellbeing initiatives and Counselling Interns assist in program delivery.
The school provides Special Educational Needs / Learning Support. During admissions, parents may disclose learning difficulties such as ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Autism Spectrum. The admissions policy notes the school may request medical reports and educational assessments to determine needs. The school is able to meet the needs of a prospective student without impairing the education of other students. If after admission an educational or physical need is discovered that TISB cannot cater for, it may be recommended that the student leaves. The Application Form states TISB is authorized to communicate with the previous school to verify past records and history when needs are identified.
English is the language of instruction throughout the school. The school provides English as an Additional Language support to learners developing English proficiency. Continual assessment of a student's progress may indicate a need for EAL support, and progress is monitored with Individual Educational Plans. Policies guide staff responsibilities in safeguarding, with confidential counselling records maintained in line with safeguarding and dataprotection policies. The Admissions process may require disclosures and supporting documentation, and the school may communicate with previous schools to verify past records when safeguarding needs are identified. If after admission a need arises that the school cannot cater for, this may be a basis for review of the placement.
The International School Bangalore (TISB) is a co-educational day and boarding school located on a 140-acre campus in Whitefield, Bengaluru. Founded in 2000 by Dr. K P Gopalkrishna, it is part of the National Academy for Learning Trust (NAFL) and offers an international curriculum with a bespoke approach. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is used in the early years, with English as the main language of instruction and additional languages in French and Hindi.
