Princess Diya Kumari envisioned an institute for children that would stress holistic development beyond the three Rs, and she received full support and encouragement from her parents, Late Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh ji and Maharani Padmini Devi ji, as well as her husband Maharaj Narendra Singh ji. The Palace School aims to create a comprehensive learning center where children develop personal, intellectual, emotional, social and physical skills. The school emphasizes application-based and experiential learning and follows Montessori principles at the pre-primary level. A transfer from Montessori methods to mainstream primary is planned for children entering the primary program at age six plus, and the program includes sports, visual and performing arts, yoga, robotics, educational trips, field trips and summer camps to foster multiple intelligences.
The Palace School collaborated with Rooftop to participate in the Phad se Padh initiative, using Phad folk art to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav; the December exhibition at City Palace Jaipur featured 15 participating schools and was attended by Princess Gauravi Kumari. Activities connected to the project included appearances at the Jaipur History Festival at the City Palace Jaipur, a Delhi presentation for World Education Day, the Jaipur Literature Festival and the We, The Women Festival at Clarks Amer. These efforts illustrate an emphasis on arts-integrated and interdisciplinary learning within the school's community engagement.
